The Caesar salad typically has lettuce, crunchy croutons and a dressing which includes lemon juice, olive oil and black pepper. Without these ingredients it cannot properly be called a Caesar salad.
On the other hand, you could ask "Can I have a Caesar salad without the dressing or the other ingredients?". By saying that you have indeed called it a Caesar salad.
Whether the end result remains a Caesar salad then becomes a question of semantics more than anything else.
well i personally, strongly believe that the mere caesar salad could possibly still be the name it was given to be without the dressing.

No, salad was made maybe around the early years when "cavemen" still existed if you will... Hunted and gathered Fruits, berries, and anything that didn't poison them, and at that time the only continent humans lived on was Africa... So no salad is not Italian...... From the 14 year girl.Adendum- Both the ancient Romans and Greeks ate what could be termed salads in the form of greens with a dressing. So did the salad origintate in Italy? Yes partially. Adendum not by a 14 year old girl
Oil does not dissolve in water. It stays there forever and ever. I'm sure everybody has done the shaking of the salad dressing thing, but it still comes back on top. That is the closest oil becomes to dissolving in water :P
