Holders of a DO are known as osteopathic physicians, while holders of an MD are sometimes referred to as allopathic physicians D.O.s are trained much in the same way as M.D.s, with the addition of osteopathic manipulative medicine techniques. Osteopaths also believe strongly in the healing power of the body and do their best to facilitate that strength. During this century, the disciplines of osteopathy and allopathic medicine have been converging.

Yes. A D.O. is an M.D. However, the D.O. does not use the M.D. title as it should. The D.O.s would get more recognition as medical doctors if they would implement using an M.D. initial behind their names. D.O.s are medical doctors, they do everything M.D.s do, so they should be able to use the M.D. title as well, so the general public know they be medical doctors!!
