How are hepa air filters different than regular ones?

Hepa filters filter out smaller particles than reular filters. The size goes down to microns which will filter out microms as well as pollen.

What are the advantages of a HEPA air purifier?

HEPA purifiers work by drawing air through an extremely fine filter that captures everything from mold, dust, and pet dander to bacteria. The more stuff your HEPA filter has captured, the less effective it becomes. That’s why it’s so important to clean your HEPA filter regularly, especially if you suffer from allergies.

Why is a hepa vacuum better than the other vacuums?

Hepa vacuums offer extra filtering so that allergens aren't released back into the air. Dyson is one of the top makers of vacuums that offer hepa filtration.

Air Purifier Filter: HEPA Standards?

The most important specifications of air purifiers are the air filters. Today, there are two major types of filters that are used in modern air purifiers and ionizers. People often do not know the difference between a HEPA and HEPA type filter. A true HEPA filter captures more than 99.7 percent of common air allergens. A HEPA type filter captures less allergens, which could be as low as 85 percent. In some air purifiers, there are permanent air filters that only need to be washed or vacuumed. This eliminates the costs associated with replacing the traditional filters every several months.

What does hepha mean?

DO you mean HEPA as in the Filter??? If so, that means it is the American Lung Association's main type of filter that works the best. It filters out the most dust and mold particles than any other filter.

What are the benefits of HEPA filter vacuum cleaners?

HEPA, or "high efficiency particulate air" filters work by trapping particles that other types of vacuum filters would let back out into the air. These filters are beneficial because they capture dust particles and debris that would slip through other types of filters, meaning that they clean better than others.

Can a shop vacuum with a HEPA filter be used for decontamination of alpha and beta particles?

it depends. Don't be mislead by the name "particle" in "beta particle" and in "particulate filter". They refer to different size particles. Free alpha and beta particles can not be filtered by a HEPA filter (since they are electrons and helium atoms, way too small to be filtered). HEPA filters out much larger "particles" - several dozen nanometers and higher , which is millions and thousands times bigger than the beta and alpha particles. However, if the isotope emitting the alpha and beta particles is present in large "particles" - meaning "particulate matter" (e.g. adsorbed on the surface of soot or dust) one could use a HEPA filter to get rid of the large particles, and thus, essentially, eliminate the source of radiation. E.g. if there is a nuclear meltdown Chernobyl-style and the debris of the radioactive fuel are released as aerosol, you can definitely protect yourself by installing a HEPA filter in your house. In Kiev, Ukraine, people who knew kept their windows and doors closed after the Chernobyl meltdown, hoping to prevent particles entering their apartments. HTH runcyclexcski
