No. Russell terriers have longer legs and are more athletic.
No. They are exactly the same thing.
Same as in English. Many words do not have an equivalent, so you use the same words as the origin. For Jack Russell Terrier, that is English (Brittish).

A terrier is part of the name of a breed of dog such as a Westie Terrier or a Jack Russell Terrier.
All dogs, from the Great Dane to the Chihuahua, are the exact same species. Phylum = chordata.
The difference bettween a Jack Russell Terrier and a Parson Russell Terrier is the Parson Russell Terrier has Longer legs and therfore is not as stocky as the Jack Russell terrier, but because the Parson Russell Terrier has longer legs it is also a little faster Than the Jack Russell terrier. The Parson is recognised by the Kennel Club, it is a "pedigree dog" with a breed standard. The Jack Russell comes in many shapes and sizes, it is not recognised by the K.C. and has no breed standard. They both can have rough, broken or smooth coats.
it is spelled the same, "jack russell"
The first place you should try is your local humane society. With all the animals in shelters I think it is irresponsible to get a dog (or any pet) from a breeder. There is probably a Jack Russell waiting for you there right now.
about The same size as jack russell teriers
Rat terriers and Fox terriers are their own breed of dog. They all come from the same lines, going centuries back. But now due to breeding, these different breeds of dog have different characteristics although they may look alike they are in fact not all Jack Russell's.
The breed is The American Pit Bull Terrier. Some people shorten the breed's name but it is the same thing.
Preferably NOT something smaller than the Jack Russell! JRTs (Jack Russell Terriers) are quite competitive, as I'm sure you know, and have rather a short temper on the whole. A small breed dog would be at a disadvantage in a fight with the bigger dog. Therefore, it would seem that another terrier breed around the same size would be the best choice. I personally have a shepherd/husky cross & 2 JRTs......the larger dog is undisputed alpha dog, but the two smaller ones are constantly wrangling for dominance.
