A NP is a much higher class of nurse than a LPN. LPN requires only a certificate program whereas NP requires a bachelor's equivalency and much more additional schooling.
In most states, an NP can be first assist. Neither a PA or NP, can do major surgery without a surgeon. Both can do minor procedures.
You can go for PA of NP. University of Wisconsin actually offers on-line PA diploma.
A Physicians Assistant (PA) and Nurse Practitioner (NP) fill the special role between nurses and medical physicians MDs/osteopaths DOs. The PA and NP under the supervision of MDs and DOs can diagnose, treat, and even prescribe medications; PAs and NPs are highly trained clinicians.
