First of all it depends on if the router is wireless or not. Most routers are pretty similar except for bandwidth and other features. I think Net gear is a great company though and would definitely be a good purchase for you.
Yes. Modems will work with any router and vice versa.
Yes. Netgear is a very popular and easy router to use at home, they have a good website for information if you need also any help also.
It should not have any problem, google your router model and check whether other people had problems using MAC.
I can answer this easily. I've had so much trouble with Linksys routers that I completely gave up on them. I switched to Netgear and never had a problem again. I would recommend any Netgear wireless router to everyone.
Yes, you should not have any problems connecting them together.
The question would be easier to answer if you included the specific model # of the Netgear router you are trying to configure. You can not connect a netgear router or any other router directly to a DSL line unless it also functions as a DSL modem. You can connect a router to a DSL modem which connects to a DSL line.
There is no specific router which is better than others. Any Netgear or D-Link router will do just fine, some have been specifically configured to use the correct ports for an XBox so keep an eye on the packaging.
ANY device can stop for no apparent reason. If it's still under warranty contact the manufacturer, or go to their support site and see if there are any work around's for it.
The main difference between a router and a gateway is in their functionality in a network. A router will be connected to two different networks and will transmit packets between them. As for the gateway, it will link different networks using varied protocols.
Routers do not need any CD in order to connect to it. If you mean that you do not have a driver for the wireless adapter you get it from the manufacture website (Netgear, Linksys and so on).
There is none. AOSS is only found on Buffalo routers. Randomboy0106- actually there is an aoss button on the linksys router not sure but try it out. On the router it has a little box on the edge that say "Cisco System" and you can press it and all you have to do is hold it and it'll turn white and start flashing meaning its working.
The best wireless router is the brand with the most development in it. It usually has many previous version and is the most common. I believe Netgear is the best wireless router but there is plenty more which give similar results at cheaper price.
