a comman lizard like the gecko 3 to 7 inches. eats insects and small mammals and reptiles.lives in grass lands, deserts, and rain forests
Tokay geckos, though cute and exotic, don't make good pets for people who have low tolerance for nastiness. They are referred to as "the pitbulls of the gecko world" for their unusually strong bite and their viciousness.
mealworms, crickets and larger tokays will take pinkie's (baby mice) good luck

Social lizards ? The ONLY lizard you should be putting in with a gecko - is another gecko - and then only if (a) you want to breed or (b) they're both female. Two males together will fight !
Depending on the origins of the jar, the Malaysian people believed the Tokay gecko is a delicacy one that if consumed will bring good luck. Another assumption is that if consumed they can be used as an aphrodisiac.
I would suggest you get a leopard gecko or a crested gecko as your first lizard pet. Both are low maintenance reptiles that have fairly good temperaments. They don't grow very large and don't require a big cage either. However, keep in mind that these lizards live for a very long time and require your time and dedication to live their entire life-spans.other good first pet- gargoyle gecko (care requirements are similar to those of a crested gecko)- bearded dragon (great first pet if you can provide a large enclosure and the proper diet)-geckos of the rhacodactylus genus (these geckos are great first lizard pets! The crested gecko and the gargoyle gecko are members of this genus. Other members of this genus include: leachianus, rough snouted, chaoua, sasorinum geckos. However, these geckos (with the exception of crested and gargoyle geckos) often command a hefty price.
On the whole - yes. Bearded Dragons are generally a docile species of lizard, and take to handling fairly well. They are a good 'secondary' lizard to get after gaining a little experience with one of the gecko family. However - REMEMBER - children should never be left unsupervised with animals (accidents CAN happen).
It is probably the plural form of 'gecko', which is a small house lizard. It can walk on the wall and some peolpe say it is a very good cleaner of the walls and you can get rid of the cobwebs as well.

A type of lizard to keep as a pet, and is harmless and not poisonous would be a Gecko. Geckos only require a clean tank, a small environmental simulation, plenty of water and plenty of food. Geckos make nice pets because they are small enough to manage and are also quite domestic looking.
