Best Answer

Ascarids are not vertebrates; they are of the genus Ascaridae, parasitic nematodes generally thought of as intestinal roundworms. Parascaris equorum, the equine roundworm and probably the most common Ascarid, infects horses, donkeys, and zebras, but is not known to infect humans or other animals. Ascarids are usually species-specific -- Ascaris lumbricoides affects humans and causes the disease ascariasis while Ascaris suum infects pigs, but there is a possibility that these two species may cross-infect humans and pigs.

What is the human parasitic roundworm called?

Tapeworm.. I think. To the person who answered tapeworm, it is definitely not the tapeworm, as the former is a flatworm and not a roundworm. The most common roundworm that infects humans is Ascaris lumbricoides. Other roundworms that are also highly distributed include Trichuris trichiura, and the hookworms (Ancylostoma duodenale, and Necator Americanus).

What is the botanic name for ascaris?

There is no such thing as a "botanic name", and the ascaris, which is a roundworm, is a parasite of mammals, not plants. The genus Ascaris contains 17 known species, each of which has a different specific name. You may have meant to ask "what is the scientific name of the ascaris species that infects humans", in which case the answer would be Ascaris lumbricoides.
