Is a band saw an automatic saw?

Today, automated tools are found in almost every area of manufacturing. Many companies that make mass produced cabinets and furniture etc. used computer aided tools to mill the wood and other materials. A skilled employee will oversee the machinery and ensure that they are performing within the desired specifications. A band saw that a carpenter, cabinet maker or furniture maker might use in their shop is not considered automatic. There may be some features with new equipment that may make it seem that the saw is automatic. Some larger band saws used for rough sawing lumber from a log may have several automatic features, but always requires the operator to be overseeing the process. Some of the finest band saws made for the home shop have incredible features but still require the operator to assist in the process. A band saw blade by nature has a tendency to travel, or be pulled by the grain to the right or left. When band sawing it is important to watch the blade travel very closely and assist the feed angle or speed in order to obtain the straightest cut. Blade tensin also needs oversight as the blade may heat and need some tightening during the process. Small bandsaws are limited to smaller thicknesses of wood and are not automatic either.
