No. Pit bulls are bred to bite and never let go. That feature is why they are responsible for nearly 70% of all dog-caused human deaths. Along with Rottweilers, pits are among the most unpredictable dogs, according to the US Postal Service training for mail carriers. In my town, last month, a pit bull which was a family pet attacked the 4-year-old girl who ended up with part of her scalp and face torn loose.

About 5 years ago near where I live, 2 pit bulls attacked a miniature pony, pulled it down, and killed it. Last year a friend of mine was attacked by a pit bull . . . she is a longtime veterinary tech and SPCA worker. Her dogs drive the pit bull off.

Two years ago in one of our city parks, a pit bull ran the full length of a city park and attacked a couples' little sharpei dog. The husband picked up the sharpei and held him on his shoulder, but the pit jumped up and grabbed the dog out of his hands and tried to kill it. (The size of my town is only 22,000. )

Boxers are generally friendly, exuberant, and as predictable as most dogs are. They are very low on the scale of dogs that bite.
