The name Panther can be applied to several species of big cats, but usually a panther is simply a leopard with a black coat - so it would depend on the individual, not by the species.
A black panther is actually nothing more than a leopard, but black and with no spots. Both are found in Africa.
A leopard is sometimes called a "panther" but its usually black leopards are called panthers. A "panther" or black leopard and a ordinary coloured leopard are the same species but black panther/black leopard have more melanin so they are much much darker but in good light the spots are still visible. AnswerAlso Known as ingwe, or chui depending on where in Africa you are. they can also be called panthers which is just the other name for a leopard and jaguar
"Black panthers" are merely melanistic (black) specimens of the leopard (Panthera Pardus) or the jaguar (Panthera Onca). There is no such thing as a "black panther" species, and, as neither the leopard or jaguar is endangered at the moment, neither are the black members of those species. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Black panthers are more of a genus than of a species. So you've gotten that part right, but don't say that black panthers don't exist, because they ARE real.
A Black Panther can be either a melanistic (black) leopard or a melanistic jaguar.
Th e Panther is a melanistic Jaguar or Leopard. Lions are pack hunters and are less deadly on their own. A male Lion can have 50-100% more body mass than a Panther or even more in some cases. According to many sources the Jaguar is the most strongest big cat while pound for pound it is the Leopard. The Leopard is far more aggressive then any other big cat and it is said that the Panther (melanistic Jaguar or Leopard) is even more aggressive than the spotted cats. According to many zoologists a 160 kg Panther (Leopard or Jaguar) will defeat a 250 kg male Lion. I share your opinion , ..... although you can try to find a 160 Kg. Panther ! meaning that Panthers can weigh anything between 40 to 90 Kg. Maybe in extremely rare cases they can reach 100 Kg. So a Big Lion [over 200 kg] will surely win against the Biggest Panther. But a medium-Lion I wouldn't be so sure ! Regards
First & Foremost ... you must know that a panther is a leopard that has got a skin with a different color (black) But luckily for you .... this change has created a different animal in that Panthers tends to be more nervous than leopards. This makes them more Dangerous .... not stronger though. Besides they are more stealthy not only because of their color but for natural inclination. And they tend to finish a fight quicker .... so that they could go away and take cover .... being shy & not willing to be under the spotlights. Finally Panthers come from Black leopards .... but also Black Jaguars .... in which case they are far STRONGER & POWERFUL than a mere leopards .[when they descend from JAGUARS] .... Being BLACK JAGUARS by all means they are heavier & their bite is stronger ! In short PANTHERS[when black leopards] are a bit more Dangerous than leopards .... but when they are Black Jaguars they are surely stronger ! Regards
Panther is a generic term and does not apply to a single species. It may refer toa lion - panthera leoa tiger - panthera tigrisa leopard - pantera pardusa jaguar - panthera oncaa snow leopard - panthera unciaA jaguar is a panther species.
genes The Jaguar (Panthera Onca in Latin) is a geographically constrained sub-species of the Leopard (Panthera pardus adersi), as is the Melanistic (Black) Panther. They are all, in fact, very closely related. The Jaguar is generally slightly smaller and more agile than the Leopard, whereas the Black Panther can grow to much greater sizes and is usually slower but stronger. Colouration and markings vary from animal to animal but Leopards tend to be of a more uniform appearance than Jaguars. Black Panthers have similar markings but they are harder to observe.
No The name Panther can be applied to several species of big cats, but usually a panther is simply a leopard with a black coat - so it would be about the individual, not color of the coat.
Africa and Asia The black panther is really a black leopard. The spots can be seen at certain angles in the sunlight. Both black and spotted cubs can occur in the same litter. Black leopards are much more common in Asia than Africa. Also black jaguars are called black panthers. Black jaguars make up about 20 per cent of the jaguar population in the amazon basin, but are more rare north of Brazil.
Yes, Leopards and BLACK panthers are the same thing black panthers are just from a diffrent habitat than leopards if you ever get near a leopard (panthera de pardus) or black panther at the zoo or something if you look at the coat of the black panther they have the rossettes that the regular leopards have the only difference is that the black panthers are dark. Panthers are leopards, and cougars, and jaguars! Panther is a generic term that describes any of these three species. And black cubs can be found in the same litter with spotted cubs. More black leopards come from Asia than Africa.
They require almost the exact same care, but I like my panther geckos more because they are a bit smaller, cleaner, and never bite
