Yes they are. Take for example a fat cell. Each human being has approximately the same number of fat cells as everyone else. So why are some people thin, and others obese? This is due to the fact that fat cells can grow. An obese person will most likely have larger fat cells than a thin person. These cells can change size throughout the course of a lifetime. Depending on one's diet, they can become larger or smaller.
