Yes! Easiest to tame if the bird is handled in the nesting box, but I believe and cockatiel can be tamed. Personality is a mix of cat and dog. Like a cat because they love to be pet on the back of head, like a dog because they crave attention from people.

∙ 12y agoCockatiels and kids are a natural as long as the child is gentle and not too young (so he or she doen't make sudden movements). If you plan to get a cockatiel for a youngish child you should consider getting a hand raised bird or investing some time in training it yourself. This will make it easier for children to get the most out of the bird.
