No. There was supposedly a one-eyed elephant skull found before, but that was not exactly the same thing. In mythology, a cyclops was human (giant), I believe
Cyclops have one eye because people who discovered it on an island saw elephant skeletons. they were not experts, so they thought it was a new mystical creature. so comes the cyclops. But why does the cyclops have one eye? The reason a cyclops has one eye is because the people who found it saw the large hole in the skull. This was the space for the elephant trunk, but they thought that it was an eye socket! There we go.
I don't know but people got the idea of the cyclops from the elephant skull. No lie I looked it up.
Greek. They probably imagined them after coming across elephant-type skulls (elephant-type animals used to be much more prevalent than they are today).
According to the History channel the Cyclops myth may have come from elephant skulls found on the islands around the time of the Greece/Troy wars and Homer. An elephant has a large nostril hole where human eye holes are and could be easily confused to be a human skull with only one eye.According to myth, the Cyclops gave up one eye to their god to gain the ability to see the future, but their god only gave them the ability to see their own death.
