A giraffe is an herbivore. Also, as an aside, because of the size of a giraffe, it must spend a large part of the day eating, which it tends to do during the most tolerable heat of the morning and evening. During the midday heat, it will rest in regions that are more shaded and, like cattle, will regurgitate their food which is known as cud, and then consume it again.
