Grass is a monocot, corn is a monocot, wheat and barley are monocots, and so on; and while there are probably more grass and cereal plants on the Earth than dicots, I think you are talking about number of species, not number of plants. Numerically the number of plant families and genera are more in dicots but population wise monocot flora appear dominant because of domestication of food plants in agriculture.
