It happened to my hamster, he is probably just getting old. If he starts to lose all his fur check his food and bedding, he could have mites. Either way take him to the vet if he loses more fur!
It sounds like your hamster has mange. Get him to a vet ASAP
because it might be very sick go to a local vet.
In winter my hamster mr.Tinkles would grow long long fur. And when it was getting warmmer he was loosing it. He was a Teddy Bear hamster so im not sure if panda's and Short furred are like that.... I will have to wait ecause I recently got a panda bear and 2 teddy bears
well my hamster started losing bits of his fur when he was about 2 and he is over 3 years old now. just because its losing fur, doesnt mean it will die soon
its very shy and wont come out of its den and its starts losing its fur
Chinchilla sand. There is no alternative. Water will strip away oils from hamster fur and cause the hamster to become sick and die.
What if your hamster has mange
No. Why do you wanna clean your hamster? It can clean itself. Also their fur isent capable of water so they get sick easily. Damp towels most of the times have perfume in it which is really bad for your hamster.
Yes, hamsters do have fur.
no, my 2 hamsters don't have fur there and they're perfectly healthy, they cant have any there as it blocks the ear passageways.
i don't think it's normal. You should take it to a vet.
Your hamster may have mange. It's transmittable to humans, so be careful. The symptoms would be: scratching loosing fur white specks in fur (possibly) Also, to treat it, you'd want to go to a vet. They can give your hamster a shot for mange. or Hamsters lose hear in the summer and it is more noticeable in very furry hamsters though as a hamster breeder i do suggest you go to the vets if the hamster is still malting for more then 2 months. or It could be that something is irritating the hamster so it is biting its fur out to try and get rid of the irritating thing. It may be the hay or shavings you really need to observe the cage.
