A helix piercing is a type of cartilage piercing but its the specific name for when you get the top of your cartilage pierced. I'll try to attach a picture of what a helix piercing tends to look like. A cartilage piercing is more of a general term that could refer to any of the many cartilaginous areas of your ear being pierced.
Its not bone mate! Its cartilage.
Well that's up to you, there is no correct or gender defined ear cartilage piercing nor is there any sexual orientation specific cartilage piercing. So what ever side looks good on you is the way to go. Here's the names of some of the piercings you may be interested in. Helix or Vertical Helix, down further on the ear rim it's a Scapha piercing, closer to the front of the face on the ear rim it's a Helix root piercing.
Ear cartilage piercing, yes and................

Cartilage!<3
I don't have one but I have friends who do. They have other piercings as well and their helix piercings are the most painful for them. But some of them say that the actual piercing isn't as painful as the swelling afterwards. Any cartilage piercing just takes longer to heal and stays cranky for a while. I have my tragus pierced and it really wasnt that bad.
Well it all depends on how you handle pain. I handle pain good so mine didn't hurt. When my Helix is healed i am getting my second ear lobe holes and then after that i am getting my industrial piercing with is a bar across your ear. (cartilage piercing). If it hurts to get your helix done don't get another cartilage piercing don't get an industrial if you ever want it cause it goes through your ear twice so its twice the pain.
yes she does have a cartilage piercing on one ear she also has a nose piercing and a belly piercing too.
Oh, dude, technically, yeah, you can still get an industrial piercing even if you have your helix pierced. It's like having a sandwich with extra toppings, you know? Just make sure your ear can handle the extra bling without freaking out. But hey, if you're up for it, go for that industrial look and rock it like a boss!
Most people I know including my cartilage piercing left a large circular bumb on the back of my cartilage piercing :/ it's worth it though. I love my cartilage piercing!
Same as you would stretch any other piercing except much more slowly. Cartilage is difficult to stretch and may not stretch. It just varies from person to person.
There will be bumps in the cartilage near the piercing. It is better to be pierced with a needle.
