A blue jay is neither a state bird or national bird, a Eagle is national and a Bluebird is a state bird.
Since the word "blue" has a long U, the simplest ones are bluebird and blue jay.

The Eastern Bluebird is found from southern Canada to the Gulf States. The Western Bluebird is found in California, Mexico and in much of the Rocky Mountains.
Four states have the bluebird for their state bird: Idaho, Missouri, Nevada, and New York. However, Idaho and Nevada have the Mountain Bluebird as their state bird, while Missouri and New York have the Eastern Bluebird.
The Male mountain bluebird is a pale blue all over, darker above.
Both the Eastern Bluebird and Mountain Bluebirds are about 7". Approx. the same sizes.
A Red Jay is a bird, they seem rare though
