New or used? Base model or with all of the extras? New base models run in the $800 range. Laser grips and night sites will put you over $1000. Buying used does not appear to save you much money. Of course if you are asking the value of a Kimber ultra carry as a self defense weapon then the answer would be "priceless".

It's a pretty broad question but here are a few things to consider: 1) Kimber says that the gun is not broken in for reliability unless 500 rounds have been fired in the weapon. 2) Try changing magazines. A defective magazine can make a good firearm junk. 3) You want to run full power loads in your Kimber. Light loads may not have enough power to cycle the action reliably. 4) If none of these things are an issue, send it back to Kimber. They will make it right. I have a full size Eclipse and a Pro Tactical and I would not hesitate to trust my life to their reliability.
