I don't think so. I believe it is a filter for the lymphatic system.

In anatomy and physiology the two terms are used to define a structure, or its anatomy or describe its function, or physiology. As for lymph nodes, they are specialized tissues whose main purpose is to filter and cleanse lymphatic fluid. So, the structure is lymphatic tissue and the function is to purify lymph. The two terms are always associated with each other, though for convenience and clarity can be discussed together. So, whatever you were researching that brought up that question for you the way you asked it makes me think that there is some more information for you to uncover that will help you understand those concepts better.
