No. The butterfly is its own kind. Rhopalocera and Heterocera are non-standard divisions in the taxonomy of Lepidopterans, used in an attempt to formalize the popular distinction between butterflies and moths.

You can tell the difference most of the time because a moth has fat, furry bodies and antenna, while butterflies have unfurry bodies with small, thin antenna. Most moths are nocturnal too, they live in the dark. Butterflies live in the day
