I just read an article in National Geographic News that said that a new study, done April 2009, showed that all octopus, cuttlefish, and some squid are venomous. Here's the link: http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2009/04/090417-octopus-venom.html
They can be. Some are highly venomous (blue ringed octopus), while others have been known to drown divers (giant pacific octopus). I have dived with many species of octopus, and overall, they are not dangerous, unless provoked. They are very nervous, darting into their crevice at first sight. But if treated right, can become very curious and friendly. When diving with a buddy of mine, a octopus that he was playing with grabbed his goggles and respirator with his arms, attempting to pull them towards him. He was fine after pulling the arms away. To the octopus, it was innoncent curiousity. To my buddy, a diver, it was a seriously dangerous situation.
Well yes and know some species like the blue ringed octopus are extremely dangerous yet only 3 have died but some are placid and are just happy to swim by you all in all they can be dangers so just avoid them
lol nope they just squirt ink dont worry =]
an octopus isn't dangerous unless the ink gets in your eyes or mouth and you swallow it
No small types of octopuses can kill you except the blue ringed octopus. A large octopus such as the giant octopus and the day octopus can kill a human.
Blue ringed octopus is currently recognized as one of the most venomous animals in the world.

Blue-ringed octopus is considered to be quite dangerous because it is extremely poisonous.
On my calculations the blue ringed octopus is more dangerous than the blue lined octopus because it is very poisonous and it has no cure.
Black so that it could dissappear!
well he ate an octopus and it was poisonous so he died
I'm not 100 percent sure, but I'm pretty sure it is not poisonous.
The Blue-ringed octopus is reported to be the most poisonous of all cephalopods. There are thought to be around 10 different species of Blue-ringed octopus with the most commonly known being: • The Lesser Blue-ringed octopus (Hapalochlaena maculosa) • The Greater Blue-ringed octopus (Hapalochlaena lunulata)
Yes. The only known cephalopod with poisonous flesh is the flamboyant cuttlefish.
