Flowers have sex organs called stamens and pistils. These are not the petals. The petals are neither male nor female. Many flowers have both pistil and stamen and are called perfect flowers. Some flowers have only stamens and are males, some have only pistils and are female.

A leaf can photsynthesis where as a petal cannot, the petal is missing the layer which contains chloroplasts. The loss of this layer means that petals are usually 1/2 the thickness.

Both a leaf and a petal will contain pigments but a leaves are designed to use sunlight to make food whereas a petals are used to attract pollinators, these pigmints can sometimes be unseen by human eyes but are very visiable to many birds and insects.

Petal is neither a male part nor a female part . Itis for attracting bees and insects to the flower so that pollination can be done. petals do not directly take part in reproduction.
