If you have a buck (male) they can breed up untill they die. But doe's (female) however should stop at the age of 6. I don't know if the doe's can die if they have them at the age of seven but I woudn't take the risk.

One Opinion: Yes, just as long as the kid understands how to take care of it.

Another Opinion: No.

First of all, little children should never be the primary caretaker of an animal. Children can learn and perform many aspects of the animal's care, but an adult or responsible older child must be the one in charge.

Second of all, more so than other animals, rabbits are unique and delicate and require specialized care. Little children often want to pick up and play with a rabbit as though it were a stuffed animal, but rabbits are often seriously injured as a result of bad handling. Before you let your child alone with a rabbit, care must be taken to teach the child to respect the rabbit's boundaries. Very small children should not be allowed to handle rabbits, only pet them as they sit on the ground.

A responsible and dedicated 6-year old could possibly be in charge of such tasks as:

  • Daily meal preparation
  • Making sure the habitat is always stocked with hay and water
  • Scooping and replenishing the litter box daily, sweeping up stray poops
  • Releasing the rabbit into a protected area for exercise and play and socializing 3-4 hours a day at least
  • Basic grooming tasks like brushing
  • Daily health and wellbeing observations (this means ensuring the rabbit is eating, drinking, peeing, pooping, and running around with ease -- the child must be trusted to bring even the slightest changes, irregularities, and/or signs of pain to the attention of a responsible adult)
  • Scrubbing/soaking the litter box and thoroughly cleaning out the habitat monthly

This sounds like a lot of work for a 6-year old! Maybe your child is up to it; if so, great, but an adult must be in charge of certain other tasks, like:

  • Designing/rabbit-proofing all the areas the rabbit will be allowed to enter and checking them regularly for signs of wear or destruction
  • Ensuring all the child's tasks are completed
  • Advanced grooming/first aid tasks like nail clipping; also, as needed, "vent"/scent gland cleaning, bathing, administration of medications, belly rubs in the case of gas or digestive upset (a common yet potentially deadly condition for rabbits)
  • Thorough monthly health checks (basically, at-home physical exams)
  • Scheduling regular vet visits (including physical exam, diagnostics, vaccinations if necessary, etc.)

The female can breed, but males don't become mature fase like the females so, wait until the buck is at least 1 year old.

Your rabbit is 2yrs old what does that make his age in rabbit term?

A normal pet rabbit would live up to 7-8 years. So a 2 year old rabbit would be in its teenage/young adult stage. (maybe about 18-20-ish in human years?)
