Snorks can be found off the east coast of the South Island in New Zealand. Snorks are approximately 8 cm tall, although the tallest Snork was recorded to be over 11 cm. They are found in shallow still water where they build their cities surrounded by lots of foliage. The common mode of transport of the Snorks is the seahorse. They will only breed when the water temperature reaches 29 degrees celsius, their gestation period is 2 human months. The cartoon was based on a popular documentary series which was banned due to fears of disruption to snork life. Snorks are highly protected by the Snork Protection Act 1938, as snork meat was highly valued by the indigenous people of New Zealand and they were nearly hunted into extinction. A large bronze statue of the famous Snork Governor Wellington Wetworth can be found in Te Papa Museum in New Zealand's capital city which was named Wellington in honour of him and his achievements. It is a misconception that snorks are a gentle creature, they are very aggressive, by sucking up pebbles off the sea floor and shooting it out at high velocity. This aggressive behaviour has lead the local people in New Zealand to refuse to have many interactions with them. Snork poaching is sadly still a common occurrence, despite their natural defenses, the punishment of which is stoning by the other snorks themselves which ultimately results in the poachers death. The plight of the Snorks are being continually monitored by the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries where it is commonly regarded that due to global warming and the Snorks breeding cycle that numbers of snorks are set to increase exponentially and future generations may enjoy possible harvesting.
In the whacky world of the Banana Splits, Fleegle is a beagle dog, Bingo is a gorilla, Drooper is a lion and Snorky (or 'Snork' in the theme tune lyrics) is an elephant. Over hill and highway the banana buggies go, coming on to bring you the Banana Splits Show!
