solid and gas . Solid because it has a fixed shape and gas because it can be compressed

* * * * *

It is a solid. The fact that it can be compressed does not make it a gas. The compression is simply because a sponge contains a large number of spaces that are filled with gas but the gas there (air) is not part of the sponge.

How much liquid can a sponge carry?

It depends on the mass of the sponge.

What contributes to the buoyant force acting on a ballon?

The buoyant force on an object in a liquid or gas has the same magnitude and the opposite direction of the weight of the liquid or gas displaced by the object. So basically, all you need to know is the weight of the displaced gas or liquid and the direction of gravity. The weight of the displaced gas or liquid can be derived from the density of the gas or liquid, the volume displaced, and the gravitational acceleration (weight = mass x gravity, and mass = density x volume). If the object is completely submerged, the volume of displaced liquid or gas is the same as the volume of the object minus the volume of the liquid or gas that enters the object (if the object is, for example, a sponge or a submarine with holes in it).

Is froth a gas solid or liquid?

Foam at the top of a glass of beer is liquid combined with gas. Liquid foam with gas is also called froth. A foam sponge would be an example of a solid with air ( a gas ) pockets throughout. Similarly, volcanic rock which is lightweight, has plenty of gas bubbles throughout. Also there are more technologically advanced solid foams used in industry which are made of metals like aluminum, steel or even non metals like solid carbon. Therefore, foam can either a solid or a liquid.

What are the importance of sponge?

they are used for medicinal purposes. a liquid produced from the sponge is used to treat people.

What is the exact body temperature of a sponge?

A sponge doesn't have a body temperature, because a sponge doesn't have a body. But how warm or cold you put the sponge under water or any liquid is the temperature of the sponge.

What makes a sponge absorbent?

The holes and craters in a sponge draw in moisture causing it to adhere to the surface of the sponge. It creates a surface tension and absorbs the liquid.

How does a sponge work to absorb and clean up liquids effectively?

A sponge works by having a porous structure that allows it to absorb and hold onto liquids. The tiny holes in the sponge create capillary action, which draws liquid into the sponge. The sponge's absorbent material then traps and holds the liquid, making it effective for cleaning up spills.
