I use toothpicks and a quality wood Glue elmers works well. Once thescrew is out dip the toothpick in the glue and insert it in the hole. If you need more tooth picks that is fine. Allow the glue to dry and then score and break off the toothpicks or a small coping saw works as well. You can now put a new screw in. Hope it works.
