Because they're just like everyone else. Valentines day is not singularly American holiday. Its a universal holiday that people celebrate all over the world.....

The sacred thread ceremony usally takes place at a religious hindu temple which is known to be called a Madir. A Madir contains expensive artefacts(statues of hindu gods) they also sing prays to give respect to god.

Basically, it depends on the people who are present during the ceremony and on the projects to be turned over....who are the recipients and who will do the turnover?
They hold a ceremony to honor the military heroes. Snowball and Boxer are given medals for their courage and victory. Also a sheep is honored posthumously for his effort and courageousness.
Kids do the kidly thing, and everyone over the age of 14 (18 for legal reasons ;D) goes for a costume house party and/or a night out involving a lot of drink :)
They celebrate Thanksgiving with their families over a computer or with phone calls if they are unable to celebrate it together in person.
