Where would I finf the relay switch on a 96 Grand Am?.
It's a switch that can be opened or closed by another signal. When activated by switch (turned on) it closes and AC comes on.
The AC switch and the relay. There is usually a temperature sensor in the passenger compartment ac unit as well. These cars have something called the Constant Control Relay Module (CCRM), a box mounted under where the battery sits. Inside the CCRM is a relay controlling (I believe) the ground side of the AC compressor circuit. I have had this module fry on 3 different Escorts, with these same symptoms. I'll bet that's the problem here.
AC relay is inside fuse-box on driver-side inner fender. Relay diagram is inside cover.
I had the same problem with mine, the dealership said it's a sensor in the switch.
