Almost any all-in-one printer you buy today will run on the Leopard operating system. Whatever printer you buy just make sure is Mac compatible which almost all of them are. I personally used a Canon in MP620 on Leopard and it worked perfectly. The same all-in-one also works on lion and mountain lion.
An 11 X 17 printer is best to buy instore because it is easier to actually see the printer and all the qualities. It would be expensive to ship.
