There are several bones in the Ankle. However, the one most commonly referred to as the "Ankle Bone" (the knob-like bone that protrudes out from where the ankle rotates) is called the Medial Malleolus.
Each time you sprain your ankle you pull or completely tear a ligament in your ankle. So basicaly everytime you sprain your ankle it is getting weaker and weaker each time!
Yes, high tops provide additional ankle support compared to low-cut shoes, but they may not completely prevent ankle injuries. It is important to consider individual factors such as ankle strength and previous injuries when choosing footwear for ankle protection.
An ankle brace may be needed if one has a leg injury from a sports activity, or if a joint is loose or detached completely. As well, an ankle brace can be needed if one breaks a bone in the lower or upper foot.
Yes, the Earth is really moving. It rotates fully one time per day, and rotates around the sun completely one time per year.
Yes, the wrist has a range of motion that allows it to rotate completely in a circle. This rotation is made possible by the articulation between the radius and ulna in the forearm and the carpal bones in the hand.
If you have sprained your ankle previously you may have already completely ruptured the ligament (ATF ligament, likely). Subsequent experiences of rolling your ankle may result in rupturing blood vessels (leading to swelling/bruising) but little pain because there is no ligament left to actually sprain. That, and you are likely quite lax in the ankle joint, meaning it happens easily.
Normal anatomyThe ankle joint connects the foot with the leg. The ankle joint allows the foot to move upward and downward and in an inward and outward motion. Muscles, tendons, and ligaments surround the ankle providing the stability the ankle joint needs for walking and running.Type I ankle sprainThe most common way the ankle can be injured is by an ankle sprain. When an ankle is sprained ligaments on the ankle are either stretched, partially torn or completely torn. The most common type of sprain is an inversion injury, where the foot is rotated inward. Ankle sprains can range from mild, to moderate, and severe. Type 1 ankle sprain is a mild sprain. It occurs when the ligaments have been stretched or torn minimally.Type II ankle sprainType II ankle sprain is a moderate level of sprain. It occurs when some of the fibers of the ligaments are torn completely.Type III ankle sprainType III ankle sprain is the most severe ankle sprain. It occurs when the entire ligament is torn and there is great instability of the ankle joint.Reviewed ByReview Date: 05/01/2011Linda J. i broke my ankle 1 yr ago and since i have had a lump on the side of my foot below my anle bone i think it is and positive that it is a broken ligament. how do they fix an injury like that?
There is no difference. A sprained ankle can also be known as an ankle sprain, twisted ankle, rolled ankle, ankle ligament injury, or ankle injury. It's when one or more ligaments are torn or partially torn where they are connected to your ankle bone.
