There is a long and very intense pathway to becoming a Cardiac Surgeon. If you want to pursue surgery you will need to be very dedicated and hardworking.
First you will need to graduate from an undergraduate program and apply to medical school. Medical school is very competitive so you'll need good grades and MCAT score. Medical school is 4 years and then you'll apply for either general surgery (5-7 years) or Integrated Cardiac Surgery (6+ years). If you do general surgery you would then apply for Cardiac surgery fellowship after residency is completed. In either case you are looking at >10 years of training after undergrad.
The general piece of advice for surgery (cardiac or otherwise) is to only do it if you can't see yourself possibly doing anything else.
It is extremely hard, because it requires a lot of work.
There really is no specified age for being a cardiologist. It depends on when you started&finished all your medical schooling/training.
