Ok first let's start off by saying that Belize is the only country in Central America that recognizes English as it's official language. However Spanish and Kriol are more commonly spoken than English. Belize considers itself to be Central American & Caribbean. This is evident as it's affiliations with many Latin American & Caribbean groups. Almost all Belizeans, even those how speak Spanish as a first language speak with a Caribbean accent and have many similarities to the islands of the west indies. This connection have made some Belizeans to consider themselves Caribbean. However if you look on the Belize government website, Belize is considered to be Central American. Guatemala considers Belize to be part of their state because of England's refusal to abide by a contract that would build a railroad for Guatemala. Belize and Guatemala have both recently took this dispute to the International Court Of Justice. A decision can make Belize become part of Guatemala or leave it as an independent nation. Belize differs from Guyana which is the only English speaking country in South America in that none of their Citizens Speak Spanish as a first or second language, they have no Spanish heritage. Guyana is mostly Indian and African decendents. I have heard people try to compare the two but in my opinion, they are two totally very different countries. Both are however part of CARICOM.
