I have bipolar 2 and according to what I have read, yes bipolar is the same as an organic mood disorder. There is two types of organic mood disorders, those that involve depression only and those that involve bipolar. Bipolar involves periods of depression and periods of mania.
Lithium which is a mood stabilizer. Hi. I am personally living with one of the most advanced stages of Bipolar Disorder. I have been on the same two medications for it my whole life. They are Lamictal, which is a mood stabilizer and Risperidal, which is another mood stabilizer to be taken at night. I would recommend these two medications to anyone with Bipolar Disorder.
Bipolar is an actual disorder. Emo means emotional that means like there very emotional aout things. Some people are bipolar and classified as emo because they have mood swings and crap lol
Yes. Children with one bipolar parent have a 30% chance of developing bipolar disorder. Even children of bipolar parents who do not develop bipolar disorder are at increased risk (compared to children who do not have a bipolar parent) for other psychopathology such as ADHD, learning disorders, mood disorders, anxiety disorders, etc. Children with two bipolar parents are at an even greater risk of developing bipolar disorder.
Some do, some don't. Its about the same as with people without bipolar disorder.
Mood disorders is a wider category of diagnosis. Anxiety disorder is one type of mood disorder. Others include bipolar disorder (manic/depression), all sorts of depressive disorders, and more. You can check the DSM IVR for specifics. All of these are categorizations of problems that get in the way of someone living a fully functional life. Speak to your doctor or a local psychotherapist for more information. Anxiety disorders deal with various psychiatric diagnosis dealing with anxiety, abnormal feelings of fear, worry, overconcern. These include generalized anxiety disorder , panic disorders, social anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder and others. Mood disorders deal with moods. They are known too as affective disorders. These mental health disorders are major depression, bipolar-formerly known as manic depression, dysthymia and cyclothhymia. These last two are milder forms of major depression and bipolar disorder.
Bipolar disorder has a genetic component - it does seem to run in families, and if you have people in your family who have bipolar disorder, you have a higher chance to have it yourself. However, there is more than just genetics causing it - scientists haven't figured out the whole think, but they know it is more than just a gene or group of genes. Some people can grow up in the same family and have the same genes, but not develop bipolar disorder.
Doubly polar; having two poles; as, a bipolar cell or corpuscle.
Yes mania is characterized by intense mood changes, grandoisity, excess energy, and insomnia while depression is a comeplete lack of interest of things a person used to get pleasure from, a feeling of worthlessness, and a lack of energy or motivation.
The golden rule is: never take any drugs prescribed for another person! This could actually do you a great deal of harm.Bipolar Mood Disorder and Depression are not basically the same thing. Bipolar Mood Disorder is a complicated illness. Both of these illnesses need professional help and can be treated. If someone suspects they are suffering from a mental health condition, they should go and see their doctor.
Bipolar disorder is characterized by mood swings from a manic phase (good spirits, extremely active, great ideas and plans) to a depressed phase that may even extend to suicidal tendencies. In order to be classed as bipolar, these episodes must cycle over periods of months. There is debate about whether there is a shorter-cycle disorder that also falls under bipolar, involving swings of weeks instead of months. In any case, swings shorter than several weeks duration are not bipolar, and are not treated in the same manner. They are often -- although not always -- related to the effects of drugs (prescription or illegal), or alcohol. Bipolar disorder cannot be accurately diagnosed if the presenting party is under the influence of mood-altering chemicals.
no, they are separate deseases, but you can have both at the same time
Contrary to what many believe, manic depression is not "serious depression" or "real depression", although it is very serious and real. Mania is the opposite of depression. According to the dictionary, it is "an excessively intense enthusiasm, interest, or desire." A manic-depressive is someone who cycles between mania and depression. It is the same as bipolar disorder. Manic depression is also known as Bipolar 1 or Bipolar 2. Its a complicated mental problem that is treated with medication. MANIC DEPRESSION is now called Bi Polar as in 2 poles of mood, lows and highs. I myself am asufferer and hate the WORD MANIC thankfully it now has a much kinder title. Indeed myself and others do have severe depressions. The highs differ and I have hypomania, mild highs. This is a severe illness many loose touch with reality. Depression is the opposite.
