For me breakfast is also a very important meal, it helps me to wake up and start the day with more energy. Otherwise I'd be hungry and grumpy... I usually prefer granola and fruits, on weekends bread and eggs to boost my proteins.

I am no expert, but do have some experience in health foods & diets. If you want experts advice they will have you sit & read a book on the subject which really is not necessary. First, it should be said that if the weight problem is obesity than maybe a 'system' like Jenny Craig or better yet see your GP for a headstart on a diet.
