Not knowing what you mean by dangerous, iso-propyl alcohol (standard rubbing alcohol, either 70% or 99%) should have no effect on a carpet other than to kill 99.99% of bacteria and viruses in the carpet.
Generally anything you eat that isn't supposed to be eaten, is cause for concern. Get your blood checked because you could be low in iron, and have anemia - or PICA. Once you get your blood levels sorted, the carpet powder eating should stop
