I have a 2001 Toyota Sienna and was told at the dealership that it needed changing. They quoted $349.00. Ouch!
No. Ignition timing is totally controlled electronically, and changing plugs will not have a direct effect. You can always check it with a timing light if you want, but there's nothing to adjust.

From what I read it has a timing chain, not a timing belt. I asked the dealer about scheduled maintenance, and changing the timing belt was never mentioned.
changing a timing chain on the i30 is a long and tedious process but if youre interested for about 30 dollars you can go at an autoparts store but a complete rebuilt and teardown manual for the 96-2001 and maxima it will have you to do that and more they the same engines

It's a good practice to change the water pump when you are changing the timing belt.
The 2001 Sentra has a timing chain.
