So cholesterol doesn't 'have', or contain, protein, but is chemically linked to proteins, hence the term 'lipoprotein'. There are two main types of lipoproteins:
LDL (low-density lipoprotein) is the harmful type of cholesterol.
HDL (high-density lipoprotein) is a protectivetype of cholesterol.
