They are just different.

The choice depends on your interests and the opportunities available according to your eligibility criteria such as the cut-off marks obtained and the rank of the college that offers these courses.

A civil engineer needs to work in the construction field and if you prefer that it would be a nomadic kind of job moving from a finished project to another new project to start. If you prefer structural design engineering, then you can work from an office preparing the structural designs and drawings.

Electronics and communication engineering has a different job environment where you have to work with the circuits and communication cables, satellites, relay stations, remote sensing gadgets, computers, wireless communication systems, etc.
