It could mean a couple things, depending on who is using the phrase: A chemist would define "organic" as a material that contains carbon compounds...that would include practically all synthetic and natural fibers. If you ask an environmentalist, they will say that it is a fabric made from a natural plant or animal fiber (cotton, hemp, wool, etc.) that was grown without pesticides or manufactured fertilizers, and processed without using harsh chemical processes such as bleaching.
