No, there's no exact year for when television or the computer were invented, (depends on your definition of the two,) but TV definitely came before the computer.

What is the cord that connects the laptop to the TV?

That would depend on your television and computer. Older computers have an S-Video port as do most televisions.

How do you hook up a computer to an older television?

You would have to have adapters and converters. The computer would need to output to a composite NTSC format, and you would need an RF modulator unless the television has a composite input. If it is an older computer that is not IBM compatible, then use whatever adapters included with the computer or made available for it. Some older computers already had the output as an NTSC-compatible format riding on a broadcast channel frequency (channel 2-4 much of the time). There might be special converters for converting directly from VGA, HDMI, or DVI to NTSC or even NTSC broadcast format.

Which connector would you use to connect an S-video cable to a portable computer?

No portable computer has had a S-Video output in the last 5 years. You might find a S-Video input on an older TV. You can use a S-Video cable to connect the computer to the TV, although a VGA cable would look much better if the TV had that option.

The computer is, because you can just type in a website, whatever you want, and there it is, but on the TV, you're limited, you have to wait ages for your favourite show to come on, and theres only so many channels. And on the computer, you can watch shows, on Youtube, or BBC Iplayer, or something. Also, you can research on the computer and find out things, you can on the TV, but its harder
