Confucianism is a ethical system dating from the 4th Century BCE. It is not a religion in the generally-understood sense, although the teachings of K'ung Fu Tzu (Confucius) have been grafted on to the Taoist and some Buddhist communions. Since it does not deal directly with gods, it would be considered nontheistic generally, although offshoots might have different beliefs.

What is the difference between a monotheistic and a polytheistic religion?

A monotheistic religion believes in the existence of one supreme deity, while a polytheistic religion believes in the existence of multiple deities or gods. Monotheistic religions, such as Christianity and Islam, emphasize the worship of one god, whereas polytheistic religions, like Hinduism and ancient Greek mythology, involve the worship of many gods.
