Yes !
The screen was twice as large and had an audio processor. Aside from the obvious OS updates there is nothing really new in between those two generations.
3rd gen quad-core processor
You should not regret your decision. The 3rd generation is much better than the 2nd generation because the 3rd generation has a faster processor than the 2nd generation. Getting a 2nd generation iPod Touch would be a downgrade.
-The 2nd generation comes in 8,16, and 32gb models and the 3rd comes with 8, 32, and 64gb -2nd gen iOS is up to 4.2, 3rd gen iOS can do OS 5 and beyond. -3rd gen seems to be faster than the 2nd gen (don't get a 8gb model 3rd gen. they just rip you off and actually give you a 2nd gen model. 3rd gen 8gb IS the 2nd gen 8gb.)
Not much. The only big difference is that the 3rd generation has a better processor, so runs around 50% faster. Also, the 3rd generation iPod Touch is available in a 64GB version, and is also cheaper.
i3 is a dual core. The i7 model is a quad core processor.
-Faster CPU (should be roughly the same as the new 3GS processor) -OpenGL ES 2.0 graphics support -Apple inline remote support -VoiceOver (voice control) -Increase in capacity up to 64GB
a 2nd gen digitizer will not work for a 3rd gen
Benchmark comparisonsCompared to Sandy Bridge (3rd generation):5% to 15% increase in CPU performance when compared clock for clock25% to 68% increase in integrated GPU performance.that means you get more performance out of a 3rd gen core i5 2.5GHz than in a 2nd gen core i5 of same configuration.and also 3rd gen cpu produce less heat and have low power consumption.
I think
Yes it does.
as far as i know, no. ipod shuffle 1 gen. had usb/cable itself in the bottom and i heard after ipod shuffle 2nd gen, Apple changed data+/data- something. so basically ipod shuffle 3rd, 4th gen's usb cable can share but 2nd gen usb cable is just for itself. 3rd gen = 4th gen 2nd gen NOT = 3rd gen
