The answer to that question is a matter of opinion. Many people believe in some form of afterlife, which involves either going to heaven or hell, or reincarnation. Others believe that death is oblivion. You can only be sure what death is like by dying. But if death is oblivion, you still won't know what it is like even when you are dead. In any event, enjoy your life while you are still alive.

Through natural or intellectual means, no one can be certain; it is unclear whether or not something of us continues after death. But the thing that is hardest for us to give up, even harder than giving up wealth or influence, is our own egos, our sense of self. Especially in western cultures and in teachings of many religions, there is a persistant belief that the individual person continues to exist as an individual. It is not by accident that pride is widely considered among believers to be one of the most serious offenses imaginable. Apart from standard religious teachings which are taken on faith and therefore beyond refute, there is no evidence or argument that we will continue somehow as individual persons. What if there is something, but you will NOT be the individual you are now or any individual at all? Is that oblivion? Is it a frightening prospect, or is it freeing and enlightening? As a concept, certainty is seriously over-rated.

This seems like modern English to me. Second childishness is being childish for the second time, such as old people may get. Mere oblivion means-simply death or nothingness.
oblivion is awesome.
"Oblivion" means "forgotten" or a place where things have been forgotten. There is a reason why the memory-wiping spell in Harry Potter is "Obliviate". Also compare the word "oblivious" which means "unaware". To blast someone to Oblivion means to destroy them so thoroughly that even all memory of them has been removed. Thus Shakespeare, talking about a very old and senile man: "Last scene of all . . . is second childishness and mere oblivion, sans teeth, sans eyes, sans taste, sans everything." By extension oblivion means... death, destruction, the fires of hell, where people are forgotten about (he exploded into oblivion) Oblivion basicly means "HELL", some examples is in the movie poisedion where the survivours say theve been thrown into oblivion (HELL) Also try playing the popular game called "elder scrolls: oblivion" and enter a gate, this is what oblivion is like
