One might go on their vacation by train because trains are generally much cheaper than flying. They are a cheaper cost alternative to flying and they are less hassle than driving to the location spot.
Driving -- allow about 8-9 hours, flying is not too expensive and takes about an hour, or there's also a train that runs daily (takes about 12 hours)
The flight time from Auckland, New Zealand to China is about 13 hours, 21 minutes.
The flight time from Auckland Airport to Thailand is about 12 hours, 4 minutes.
The only airline flying the Airbus A380 to Auckland is Emirates, on their Dubai-Sydney-Auckland route.
2 hours and 38 minutes
im quessing around 24 hours
After as fares will be cheaper then and there will be less people flying.

If you are flying you need a passport. If you are driving over the border you can get a passport card, which is cheaper. If you are only going over the border for a day then I am not sure what you need.
