Is elctric hot water cheaper than oil I am considering to add an electric hot water tank and turn my oil furnace off for the summer to save oil?

Hi: My advice to you is get a updated comparison energy per work done comparison chart in heating of your water to compare by. Let me point something out though. Electric heater elements in hot water heaters are seldom of design that would nearly keep up with the hot water make up rates as a comparable sized Gas/Oil unit. There are some commercial duty jobbers out there in the electric forms but ------,,,,,, enough said. Your best energy saver is to have high efficiency unit with fuel you have easy access to, and to turn it off on unused ours not in use and on for hours when in use. Timers are available for this.
