Engineering is a field or subject to be studied, a doctorate is a qualification in a field of study.
study
Typically it is a doctorate.
Armstrong obtained a BS degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Purdue in 1955, and he earned his doctorate from the University of Southern California in 1970, after he walked on the moon. After earning his doctorate, he began teaching aerospace engineering at the University of Cincinnatti.

There are many types of doctors, some of which include, a medical doctor, dentist, doctorate in education, engineering, health related professions, and almost every field there is. Typically and in general, the are referred to as doctorate degrees.
Better than what? You need to clarify. Still, a doctorate in psychology (PsyD) is a good fit particular to this profession. This is not to say there are not other good fits. Some might feel a doctorate in education EdD would be a good fit .
Yes. Why wouldn't you be able to? Is this a real question? Another Answer Generally, any degree you can get in an associate, bachelors or masters you can get in a doctorate. For example, Masters in Civil Engineer (MCE) you can get in a doctorate (Ce.D) or a Bachelors in Mathematics (BM) you can get in a masters (MMA) and a doctorate (D. Ma; I think that's right) Final example, you can get an associates in letters (A. Li; thinks that's right) you can get a Bachelors in Letters, a Masters and a Doctorate. I hope this isn't confusing :)
Aeronautical engineering or chemical engineering is GOOD
An individual enrolled in an engineering program can be at the undergraduate level, or graduate level. Undergraduate level - bachelors degree Graduate level - masters or doctorate (PhD)
a good one.....
depends what kind of engineering
Only if accompanying a name, as their job title.... John Q. Citizen, Civil Engineer. It would not be capitalised when used in a sentence.... "We will need to employ a civil engineer before we begin the work".
