There sure is! When fingering, there is a reduced chance for contracting a disease or causing a pregnancy compared to intercourse. The skin of the fingers is much thicker than the more delicate tissues of the penis, anus, and vagina. So, physical contact is much less likely to cause the microabrasions that allow many stds to be transmitted, so long as the skin of the hands is unbroken.
