No, there isn't any gluten in flax. Flax is a member of the Class Magnoliosida, and the gluten producing cereal grasses, including wheat, barlery and rye, are from the Class Liliosida. Certainly circumscription may cause some discrepancy in the placement of the plants in any taxonomic system, but as to gluten content, some plants have the composite protein, and some don't. And flax doesn't.
